Her father’s words stirred in her ears, but Valiria did not take action right away. She studied the hare with a focused, curious stare, listening to and breathing in its fear and panic. It wasn’t that she was afraid—not at all. She was a born hunter and instinct told her there was nothing to fear in this most natural of things.
