Born outside of the Wilds, Ratio grew up in a traditional pack environment. It was a small group and he inherited his fiery attitude from his father who pushed him and his siblings hard. His father was a fighter and so were his sons - basic guards for the pack. His sisters got the easy road and he outgrew them and his mother quickly.

That life wasn't for him in the end and he turned his back on his pack and family. He had always seemed to feel a bit more than the rest of his blood - something other than anger or the excitement of battle. There was only ever one channel for whatever he felt, however. He didn't learn to control his temper until he met another lone male named Balto. He was an optimistic two-year-old to Ratio's slightly older three and the two bonded swiftly and strongly. They traveled everywhere together, a pair of rolling stones. Ratio never did manage to tell him that he loved him.

Ratio and Balto were holed up in the snowy mountains, hunting, when they came across a Lynx cub. Seeing no reason not to take advantage of food when it was presented to them, the two males descended upon it. The mother appeared out of nowhere and fought like a demon for her cub. The fight was brutal and neither side conceded. The Lynx was killed by Ratio in the end but Balto could not stand, intestines hanging from his stomach and Ratio was torn and bleeding in the snow. Though he still does not know how, Ratio dragged his friend back to their den.

Ratio fell unconscious. He did not know how long. When he awoke, Balto was dead.

Ratio could not bury his friend. The ground was stone and it was frozen, anyway. He left him in the den and sought the Lynx cub. It was gone. He ate from it's mother's corpse and continued.

A year or so of traveling alone, Ratio made it to Teekon Wilds where he continues his aimless journey, minus Balto.
