All Welcome

The ravine may have been the perfect area for him to explore the grim remains of these local critters, but it was in these thick woods that Kukulkan found better luck encountering the ones that were... you know... alive. He much preferred them this way.

The late summer brought about a chilly breeze, countered only by the warmth of the sun itself. The cedars stood tall and resolute in their formation, occasionally blocking out the sun here or there for the wanderer within. As one of these wanderers, K murmured a silent thanks each time he slipped out from the shade, the amber glow of the sun on him a welcome gift. Armed with an overactive imagination and a quirky grin, the yearling male found himself bouncing up to a small cluster of trees.

The incessant chattering and chirping of the birds within made it clear that this was their brooding grounds. Ears perked up as his eyes widened, fiercely scanning the canopies above him with a craned neck. "Chirp chirp, my feathered friends..." A sing-songy coo, his voice attempting to mimic the birds' pitch, "Your favorite uncle K is hooommmeee~" Leaning back on his haunches, K attempted to reach upward against the trunk of the closest tree, craning himself higher.

But not high enough. It wasn't the same. To the delight of the bickering avians, the wolf leaned back down to the ground, defeat looming only momentarily as he began to peek around him, hoping for something that might give him a boost.

After all, if he was to properly investigate these critters, he needed to get up close and personal. They were high up in the tree, so that's where he needed to be.

Flicker huffed as she wandered thorugh the forest, the cold leaf litter cooling her burning, split pads. She listened to the bird chatter as she wandered deeper into the new land. Many new whirled around her like a mist; the forest was comforting dispite the coldness compared to the land she had traveled from. A fresh scent of a male wafted towards her, cocking her head she followed it; although unsure if she would be greeted with aggression, as she would greet a wolf, or kindness.

She sighed heavily, the last three moons had been quite lonely dispite having travelled with a few other loners and once a pack. Somehow she hadn't opposed them at greeting; maybe Flicker was coming to terms with the tragedy that had befallen her pack.

She dragged herself out of the memory when she spotted a wolf against a tree; she stood behind a bush, thinking about how she should approach him. Flicker tensed as he put his front paws back on the ground and started to scan the area. Had he heard her? Smelt her even? No, the wind was in the wrong direction for that. She dropped into a crouch then realised he may see the flick of movement through the leaves of the shedding bush. She studdied his long legs, much like hers in build, and the muscled that wrapped tightly about his chest to fill out some of his gangly frame.

Flicker crept out from behind the bush, her eyes locked on him, and wandered stiffly in a large circle about the wolf; hoping she didn't look as threatening as she often did without realising. She cocked her head at the wolf, coming to a stop and turning to face him.
