the morning is overcast when kivaluk awakens, making a beeline for a cache where he takes a small rabbit, making a mental note to replace what he's taken for breakfast. a part of him feels bad taking and not immediately replenishing but his goal upon awakening was to patrol the spine's borders and he didn't want to waste energy immediately on a hunt.

he buries his temporary flare of guilt with the rest of the cache as he replaces the dirt he's dug up and makes his way to the borders: eyes and ears alert.
