Wolves had settled here. Wolves carried food.

Chunk hungered. Not for the wolves of course, maybe, but for the food they would so graciously share.

He wished to retain his perfect figure going into winter, signaling the necessity for his travels across the territory.

Inkeri saw the bear and it was headed towards Kvarsheim. This could not be. Could she chase it off? What if something terrible happened?

But Sven and Ujurak were there youngling. What if this bear was like bears of her homeland blood thirsty, cruel, violent. No this could not be.

She barked in warning.

A bark sounded out and naturally, the bear turned to look for the source. It was only a natural curiosity, if not an instinct necessary for survival.

Letting out a cry of his own, his path turned to fulfill this curiosity. The months approaching winter were relatively peaceful for there was little to attack over. Full efforts were put towards preparation for hibernation. He felt little care for the wolves presence, for there was nothing to defend.

But now, he was hungry. Groups of wolves often left food in their path. It was only fair to take his share.

Oh this bear was a big one. Large and toothy and hungry. She could see it there in the piggy gaze of it's eyes. IT was hungry and probably mean. Her fur rose along her spine in sharp ridges and her small bark turned into a ferocious growl. She hoped to channel some of her father's rage at losing his love, her mother's rage at her. Perhaps just perhaps this would help her.

She set her paws and readied herself for attack. Her growl growing and then her bark loud and louder still.

The canine let out a growl. The bear took a moment to consider his options.

He soon decided that it was not worth his time. Too close to hibernation, surely.

A huff sounding out, he turned away from the wolf and continued the way he had come. There was no need for him to go looking for a fight at this time of the year.
