Addled by her previous run-in, Ibis gathered up her daughter and together they napped. A few hours later they'd filled their bellies on some over ripe berries growing close-cropped along the plains, even sussed out a vole or something small together, and headed towards the mountains with bellies a little fuller.

They moved alongside Kaistleoki's limits with care, and while @Lilitu showed some interest in the scent markings she wasn't tempted by them, probably on account of missing her sister and father. The potential of meeting new faces wasn't one she was ready to entertain, and Ibis was thankful. Much as she would enjoy a reunion with her friend Ira or a play-date with any resident children for her daughter, her focus was solely on home - @Akavir. @Arielle.

All the paths leading up the mountain seemed too dangerous by Ibis' standards, so she had them turn around a few times, frustrating them both by the day's end. When the earth rose up and then tapered in to a plateau - the light looking a little harsher, more grim as the sun began to set - Ibis had to make a decision. She led Lilitu up the ridge beneath the chilly cover of the trees, promising that they'd be home soon.

For now they could at least get a good night's rest. In the morning they could find another path.
