“I fear that they already have.”

Arturo spoke his concerns for their allies loosing their Leviathan and Olive’s ears press hotly against the base of her crown. It sounded awful, didn’t it? Losing their leadership, their peaceful neighbors, their friends… it was really no surprise that Doe’s anxieties and depressions had manifested the way they had. Olive felt a strong desire to help them, to do something for the wolves they were bound to through geo-political agreeances… but even if Teaghlaigh could help, they would be hard pressed to do so. Winter was upon them, and Blackrock Depths has so many constituents — and Teaghlaigh, so few. Even if the family maintained adequate numbers to do so, it was unlikely they would be effective at assuaging Blackrock Depth’s issues [those already transgressed and those yet to come to fruition] as their problems were more of an… esoteric kind. Olive’s inborn spirituality taught her that most illnesses were psychosomatic and it was clear the extreme emotions and chaotic energies were what cause Doe’s sickness.

and Skellige’s abandonment.
and the fire at Donnelaith.
and probably the deaths of Furiosa and Palisander, too.

But Teaghlaigh could not change Blackrock Depth’s destiny no more than they could change the direction of the tide, or keep the moon from waxing and waning. It was all the will of the universe — but either way, Olive would forever support Arturo in his endeavors. “Let me know when you do,” Olive continued, raising her head and chin to Arturo. “It would be an honor and a pleasure to keep and protect the family in your stead, Ceannasach.”

Arturo was a man of few words, and Olive was a woman of many. They had said all that needed to be said, and the sylph knew it would not behoove her to keep Ceannasach here with her. Her pink tongue traced her lips before she tipped her hat to the coywolf and extemporaneous announced her departure. “The earth and its elements are behaving most capriciously — and I do not believe the fire of Donnelaith to be the last of it.”   Olive nodded at her trusted friend and turned to leave.

“Please stay safe, Arturo.”
and all my days are trances, and all my nightly dreams
are where thy grey eye glances, and where thy footstep gleams
in what ethereal dances, by what eternal streams
