All the smallest details sparked the Alpha's mistrust and paranoia what with all that was going on. Even Liffey's respectful body posture made him wonder if she was hiding anything. He liked to believe that Alya was wrong, but he didn't remember his girls ever being wrong about anything, so how could she? Charon felt conflicted considering how very fondly he had thought of Liffey before all of this, but with the present situation at hand everything was out of whack and different somehow and the (self-made up by Charon's brain) evidence seemed to point in Alya's favour so far.

Liffey seemed genuinely concerned for Julia, but maybe she didn't know anything about this all. He looked at Gannet, too, but no answer came to his question. Looking back to Liffey, Charon said, "I haven't seen her in a while." It was too late to follow the scent trails now but he feared that she might've been taken somehow. Then he glanced at Gannet again and said, half to Gannet and half to Liffey: "How's the leg?"
