It was clear that Liffey wasn't feeling too comfortable when she asked him if there was anything she could do. While he didn't think that she was being non-genuine he couldn't help but wonder if her reasons were candid. Was she feeling guilty? What was going on? But she'd always been kind to him — he had always regarded her fondly before. And Rannoch was still Eshe's kid... His mouth felt dry at the thought of betrayal and there was a frown on his face as he thought about it now, in her presence, though it could easily be mistaken for a frown of worry for Julia.

"Thank you," he said, not really indicating whether he wanted her to do anything. She could figure that out herself. Should she return Julia tomorrow, that'd be enough proof for him that she was reliable, but he didn't count on it. There were so many places she could be. "I should go." Charon glanced at Gannet and then Liffey, nodded, and started making his way out of the situation. While walking away he looked over his shoulder once or twice to see if they were happily chatting again, silently hoping that Liffey'd choose to do something useful for the pack with her time, that she'd not stay and socialise with the enemy.
