She wasn't a mind reader, although the tone of his voice and his mention of Okeanos made astute little Ibis shrug her shoulders; everyone always asked about her brother, her big, strong, soft brother. How often did they ask about her? Care about what sort of things she got up to? Did she need protecting that badly --? The wound on her neck stung, throbbing softly, as if to answer her own unspoken question.

Ibis opted not to tell him; he seemed distracted by her silent friend anyway, and with a glance to the dark girl Ibis focused her attention upon her too.
