Cupid forced himself to hold back a sob. They did pay for his mistakes, no sane wolf could deny that. There was nothing that could be done to change this or make things better. These pups would never see the light of day, and Cupid would have to live with that guilt for the rest of his days. But he couldn't let that stop him from caring for the child that did survive. He would be good to him, for him. He wouldn't let that chance slip away. 

Cupid's lips pealed back as the man proceeded. Anger and panic drove him to action. Mustering up all the energy he had left, he moved forward with jaws agape, aiming for the man's eye.
