The problem with Quellcrist was that she jumped from one subject to the next and then to the next one, and the next one and Elfie had trouble keeping track of, what was going on. 

"What d'ya mea..." he was about to ask, when she called him "literal". Was that something she should feel worried about? Then came something about sarcastic picnics and finally he came to a full stop at "it sucks balls". He did not hear, what Quellcrist asked afterwards.
