A dark woman came, and she reminded him only slightly of his mother. Dark furred, lither-ish eyes, his memory was a little fuzzy now on her appearance, but they were close enough. It wasn't her though, that he was certain. He could feel it in his gut that this woman was not his mom. Snorting, sand flew from his flared nostrils, only little bits of sand sticking to the moist digit as he rose to meet her gaze. He didn't realize he had gotten bigger, he never put his mind to it really until face to face with someone who reminded him of her. 

I don't know. He frowned, pursing his lips. The boy was frustrated. He didn't know anything! He wasn't prepared for any of this! It's getting cold, prey are tough to catch now... I don't know what I'm doing. And he was getting angry about it.
