Dark Fang’s jeering cries were nothing short of a spur’s cruel, raking grind to his ribs. His tail tucked, he avoided wolves locked in a dance like a lonely kid trying to get out of a mosh pit that had grown too rambunctious for his liking. 

Those words continued to ring out even after he was out of earshot. His eye roved over his shoulder, across the landscape, until it caught on something white on the ground ahead. His gait slowed as he approached, head lowered and nostrils widened. 

It was a child- Faliya, tucked away safely in a caribou pelt for warmth. Morwenna had deposited her here. Ksura’s blood- striking orange-red against the dark tone of his legs, spilled as he leaned forward to nuzzle the girl into a better position so she could be picked up. You’re comin’ with me, firestarter, He spoke reassuringly, before he picked her up with the tenderness of a man who had once held his own children.

The pelt he left behind- several ruby droplets of his own blood remained on the pale fur. And with a soft sigh, he did his best to ignore the voices and growls in the distance, and set a course for the North.
