Their once-Captive had been promoted to Speaker upon the runaways return.

Such a thing made no sense to her. It was not that Kotake thought herself worthy of such a title—in fact, she knew she wasn't—but that this green-eyed woman was not. How long had she been a captive among them? And then she had run away with another captive in tow. This they had all permitted, in truth. Kotake because she could not stand to see the subservient wretch or tolerate the wailings of Titmouse, and as for the others, who knew? But to return and be congratulated for her transgressions? All without earning her place, all without knowing of what made them what they were?

Kotake found herself disappointed.

Who could she trust? Vaati had shown himself to be rash, but never had she expected this from him.

The Tyro found herself meandering through the woods, indirectly heading toward the path of @Potema.
