Sequoia Coast rise up and take the power back

not sure where this is on the coast but here's a sandpiper!

like a bull sandpiper ran ragged with her head low to the ground, pulling through her shoulders as she bowled through the swirling horde of gulls. all around her grey and white angular wings unfolded leanly --  their razorlike wing ends tapering as they called boldly and cursed her name. some rose high into the thermals, others swirled in a monotone vortex just above the sand where the wolf had been last.

she played this game until her limbs grew tired. doggedly, she gave one last effort -- surging through the flock with white teeth snapping all of the feathers in the air. she broke through the crowd with empty jaws and rather than face her failure, trotted down the beach.

it was then she came upon a silver-coated wolf, who like her, sported a lean and streamlined build. she eyed him at length, but remained unnoticed as the male strode right by her. sandpiper elected then to turn back to the bay, and spent the rest of the afternoon chasing gulls like a very bad dog.
