Less triumphant in the wake of Revui was Dirge, who did not entirely care for the higher reaches of the mountain. He did not make trips so high very often yet it seemed fair to do today—the ensuing chaos of the lower climes pushed him for his moments of solitude, if nothing else than to gather his thoughts. The opportunity of those higher climes also presented vistas he could look on with unfamiliarity.

What he didn't anticipate finding there was anyone at all. Revui's shark-backed appearance met him as he rose and dipped with the land; any plans he had to collect his thoughts here were whisked away on the cool breeze. Perhaps he hadn't had the only mind to consider getting away, at least in the sense that did not remove them from the mountainside for any length.

He chuffed quietly, not wanting to startle or provoke the yearling. Things had been tense, almost too much so lately, and it was that which gave him reason to keep distance between them. Dirge thought on Yami briefly as his steps slowed, and his gaze swung out to the ledge and the views past it. It seemed a nice place, so far.
