Would it spare all of them the potential of disease? He was not certain.

We cannot be sure, Veteran. If we kill it, even to stop it from spreading, you cannot promise that you would not catch its sickness and carry it with you. I do not want my most promising protector to be devastated the way that animal is, he spoke sternly, motioning to the ill-stricken creature with a troubled nod of his snout.
