This forest had managed to uncover an interest that had been buried within Phillip long ago. He thought it had disappeared completely, forcibly forgotten ever since his feathered familiar took off on her own.
Everyday he’d listen to the constant caws of crows and ravens. He’d glance up at the canopy in the hopes of spotting one, lit up each time he did. They reminded him of Twig. The longing for a similar partnership he had with her soon arose.
Phillip stared up at one of the birds, lost in thought. How did he manage to earn the trust of the owl before? He couldn’t remember, no matter how hard he tried.
