Once again, the angukkuq found himself stuck in another morass — irrigated from the marsh further to the south, he had learned through his explorations. Further than that, there was a reservoir of spring meltwater that coalesced between parallel peaks, but such freshness was [of course] claimed by a pack of wolves. Komodo was a man not long for a pack, so he rounded back and that’s where he found himself at that moment: tangled amongst the skein of low lying trees and brush that flourish amongst such sodden ground, looking for any botanica that carried spiritual weight.

The mottled brute had no cache to store his yield, but this was a nonissue for him — the vagrant never had a cache for his herbs and instead elected to forage and employ his trinkets same day. Not only did this make for pristine and unprocessed supplies [which greatly appeased the spirits he communed with] but if Komodo came across something that truly struck his fancy, he tucked it away in the fawnskin pouch that hung round his neck. It was of his own making and he labored for weeks drying the skins, boring holes and loosely tying it together with dried sinew. The entire process had tantalized his mechanical nature and his proud handywork was well-used.

Komodo picked across the wetlands and scanned his surroundings for any this that caught his discerning, molten eye — specifically the labrador bush, to fend off these relentless, billowing clouds of springtide mosquitos.

she itched. she was covered in mud from a previous slip. she was tired, and she was overjoyed. finally, she was on the carefree adventure she had longed for so long, travelling with a woman painted in fiery hues who's desire to explore matched her own. she slipped ahead of her companion, racing along some high ground and making headway into the wetland. yet she was not a creature built of grace and within a few moments did she paws suddenly skitter on drenched earth, and she was deposited with no warning into the mud once more.

she recovered with lightning speed, lurching onto higher ground once more. she looked back to @Aoife, and for a moment thought she saw her companion in a brief flicker of movement behind her. she'd catch up, eventually.

her head snapped the other direction when movement beside her own was heard, now that she was, finally, still. her gaze landed on the relatively large figure of a male, mottled with various hues she could not quite pick out from this distance. her voice echoed out in greeting a moment later, calling over the marshes, "Hey!" she scrambled in the general direction of the male, glancing behind once or twice to see if Aoife still followed.

Komodo trotted on, his saucerlike paws pressing into the muddied earth and leaving a distinctive trail behind him. Normally, this giveaway would disquiet the earthstalker — as a lone wolf, your safety was never assured — but Komodo felt a strange sense of calm and languid stoicism. His mind didn’t really think, eyes didn’t see,  legs just moved and he zoned out, appreciating the earthly movement.

A shrill call bought soul to body and Komodo halted where he was, shaking the travel from his mind. Then his ears swiveled forward and pressed towards the epicenter of the noise; it was distinctly feminine so the angakkuq was not immediately concerned or put on guard [as prejudiced as that might be]. His vision focused on the sight of a young silver thing, splattered in mud, making haste towards him. The man grinned to himself; there was worse ways to pass an afternoon.

Komodo took a looming step forward, just one, and held a mottled paw hovering above the sodden ground. “Yeah?” the brute called out in his deep baritone when she was closer, entirely interested in the zestful girl’s next words.

Aoife stayed mostly behind - as long as they were going forward, it was all fine with her. The coast was wide and she was certain that they'd get there someday. Given her short stature, even her belly fur was muddied and dirty and she hated the feeling of it clinging together and drying - a disgusted look on her pretty face with every step. It seemed Dawn was having fun though - she could see it in the silver girl's step and the way she ran ahead. She smiled, quickening up with solid determination before her companion called out to someone. Her fiery ears swivelled and perked, slowing to a stop in such a way that she resembled a prey animal. When a man answered the call her dotted brows raised in surprise, taking her place next to the girl.

She didn't speak - simply observed the wandering stranger with cool, blue eyes resting upon the man's coat.

Let's have some fun, this beat is sick
