No one came to aid, therefore the stand-still situation did not resolve itself for another 5 minutes. The rabbit was trembling, but otherwise not moving under the pressure of the younger wolf's jaws and weight. The young and inexperienced hunter, on the other hand, wished she had a spare set of jaws to finish the piece. Had she caught sight of any of the two grown-ups, who just stood watching her struggle, who thought that "killing was an instinct", but did nothing to help, she would have felt bitter. Since she had not, Nuna's brain searched for the proper solution.

One such came, when she decided to lie down and pin the rabbit with her forepaws. The little lagomorph, feeling the wolf's hold slacken, began to kick and struggle free. Nuna - on the other hand - growled and her grasp became stronger. This lasted for a long time - not all of it is interesting to describe - and ended up with a very slobbered and frazzled, but still quite alive rabbit dashing off with it's last bits of strength, and a confused and annoyed adolescent watching it disappear.
