Lake Rodney Narrow Minded

Waters glistened in the sun as the day ended its peak and slowly descended to afternoon. The day was slowly cooling now, and she could feel it in her toes as she watched the waters from shore, cyan eyes catching the glimpse of fish swimming by underneath. It was a welcomed feeling, the chill climbing up her limbs and cooling the rest of her body with its soft bite. 

The beasts under the waves were so beautiful, mysterious even. Their movement cutting the water so easily, their fins blending in with the depths and yet every now and then she could see some colour glisten off of them when they were struck by the light. If only she could swim. Dive under with them and see how they lived, see their world for all its brutal beauty. Surely it must be a whole new, alien, world for beasts on land. 

One... Two... Three... She stepped in a little further, careful with her footsteps as the waves and tides under her toes tipped her balance to be similar to that of a drunkard on a ship at sea. The push and pull of the water's edge was strong and yet relaxing, hypnotic. Her limbs were both heavy and yet body so light. Something so strange to feel for a damsel who spent her life in the snow and ice.

The forces of Destiny had led her astray and the Nordling was lost. She had entered these strange, lively lands from the Northern side and had made her way over treacherous mountains and seemingly endless fields of nothing but grass. Surely Nehaleni would watch out for her, make sure she was okay in lands that were unlike the North?

She dove through some bushes when she scented celandine. Finally, her luck was beginning to turn. She snapped the herbs' stem, chewing it up in a nice gooey substance that she spit on her paw. Carefully did she rub her makeshift medicine on her fresh cut above her lip, but she knew this wasn't enough to keep an infection away. She looked around a bit more, but all she could see was a lake in the distance. She shrugged, decided she could go for a drink, and trotted towards it.

Gracefully did she dip her muzzle, lapping up just a few droplets at a time so the herbs wouldn't wash away and eventually called it quits because her tongue was getting tired. It was then that she spotted a white body, sticking out of the water. Hellooo! She called out. Do you know where I could find a shrine around here?

Woah. She giggled as the waves continued to push and pull her in all directions as she waddled deeper into the water. The depths lowly climbing up her legs and tickling her stomach until she was comfortable with how deep she had gone. She wasn't even certain if she'd float like a duck, or sink like a rock! She's seen wolves swim before, but this would be her first. Did it come natural to everyone? Or just some... 

Plush ears turned toward the voice calling out, head head quickly followed for cyan eyes to glisten as she grew excited when the stranger continued. A shrine? She had heard of such a thing before, in her travels some were known to practice things as... religion. She wasn't very knowledgeable in such a thing, nor did she believe in a "God" herself, not that she was opposed to believing.

At least she knew what the woman was asking for.

I haven't seen one around, no. The young alabaster woman allowed a pause to linger before a smile brightened her features. But I would gladly help you look! Is there one in particular you are looking for? She turned her body, slowly as the water pushed against her in the water, making movement slow and sluggish and yet elegant as her toes were careful to grasp the ground before allowing her weight to follow. White hairs flowing with every moment in the water.

She came from mysterious lands, the North, where shrines were scattered around. Some were private property but many were for the weary traveler needing a quick healing ritual. Usually they were found in caves or hollow trees, sacred places where one could pray or ask for guidance. She was unaware that in these lands they did not worship what she did, that they did not think like she did.

But at least they knew what she was looking for in the first place. The white woman sulked, sinking in on herself. It's quite alright. I guess this wound must heal without the help of Aesculapius. She said, flashing the curving wound on her face where some of her makeshift medicine still decorated the crimson. She smiled then, letting an eerie quietness wash over the water and the two white women.

It seemed like the woman had already accepted the fact that there were no places that Reiko knew of of worship - apparently to help heal the wounds on her face? She couldn't understand the logic, maybe it was some kind of magic that Reiko wasn't aware of! That sounded interesting and fun! Aesculapius? She repeated, hoping to hear more of what this woman had said to quench her curiosity. 

Do they actually help without herbs and other types of medicine? That sounds magical! her tail waved behind her at the thought, thinking of how much help she could do with injuries if this Aesculapius individual would help if they were just prayed to.

The other repeated her in a questioning tone, confirming her suspicions that wolves believed in other things here. She nodded regardless, glad that she had at least interested the woman. It is. She answered with a smile. They're a figure of healing and medicine. She elaborated, but even she was unsure of how the magic worked. Most would simply call in coincidence, but she believed with all her heart that the Gods were looking out for her.
