All Welcome
takes place just outside of rusalka

Aningan still wasn’t sure exactly what he was doing. He had challenged the previous leader out of spite—that male wasn’t Caiaphas and therefore wasn’t fit to lead. But now there he was at the helm, confused and only barely adjusting to the changes. All he really wanted was for the sea queen to return and take her role back, that way he wouldn’t have to pretend to know what he’s doing for much longer.

For the first time in what felt like ages, the northerner found himself out beyond the pack’s claim—barely, really, but still a decent distance from the strand. Being away from those he was most familiar with made his hackles stand on end with uncertainty. Was it even okay for him to wander away? Was he allowed to? Not knowing the answer to his own questions, Aningan stuck as close to the pack’s land as he could, just in case, without being so close that he saw nothing new. But the longer he walked, the more uneasy he felt—there was something not quite right about the field, although he couldn’t figure out exactly what that was. And as he continued, he remained on edge, cautious of that which wasn’t truly there.
Characters are more than welcome to mistake Aningan for a polar bear.
A snowy owl can also be noted hanging around with Aningan, usually in the trees or sky, unless stated otherwise in my posts.

His trip to Trigeda had been a short one, a journey spurred by a need to relay news to what as left of his family. It'd been bittersweet to reunite with his father again: good to share his company once more, though it occured to Dacio how swiftly the months apart had aged him. He did not dwell on this concern during his time among the Trikru, though it remained at the forefront of his mind as he made his return to the place of his birth.

An attempt to claim the Grotto had failed miserably, having been unable to source enough wolves to support his cause and the bear's attack on Kiwi's mountain did not make things any easier. His breaking point was picking up on Dalia's scent around Rusalka borders, which was enough to deter him for a time as he wondered how she could betray him this way. Though disappointed, it did not mean he'd given up. Someday he'd build his army and storm the sound, and it did not matter if Dalia or her offspring got in his way - she'd already been granted a chance to make amends for abandoning Drageda, and he was not prepared to offer another.

Dacio prowled the fields upon his return, primarily looking for @Opalia so that they may regroup, but he was curious to see how Rusalka had faired in his absence. The ashen yearling observed from a distance where he'd settled, hidden among the tall grasses, watching the forest's edge for any sign of a patrol when a pallid figure strode from between the redwoods. He did not recall such a pale-furred wolf at the battle on Dragoncrest, though he did notice that the other male's steps were tentative. He seemed particularly cautious and, as he lay low and seethed in silence, Dacio supposed he was right to be.

Although he did not creep far from the Rusalkian grounds, even a step or two away from the treeline felt peculiar. When had he last ventured out? It had been far too long, he realised, and he wondered exactly how much the world had changed beyond his home. Were those he had left behind still lingering? Did they miss him? He doubted wholeheartedly that any of those from the glacier might yearn for his presence, given just how little of their attention he had received prior to leaving. But should he travel even further and check anyways…? No, of course not. He paused mid-step and gave a rough shake to his head, setting himself straight right then and there; their feelings did not matter now because he was finally happy (for the most part).

Settled, Aningan stood straight up and scanned the area surrounding him, assessing the land as he considered his options. He could return to the shore and deem his short journey out a failure, or he could continue exploring and better familiarising himself with the area—the latter, of course, seemed like the better option and it didn’t take long for him to decide on it.

Unaware that another was watching him, Aningan continued with a bit more confidence to his steps, driven further from the territory in favour of exploring.

The darkened fur of Dacio's rugged shoulders stood on edge as his cool gaze continued to watch, locked to the snowy hide of Rusalka's pallid yearling as he ventured further from the coast's snake fit. His salmon pink tongue snaked from between his jaws to trace his lower lip almost hungrily, and charcoal ears slid back at the satisfying thought of spilling this youth's blood by his own fangs.

It would be so easy, he thought arrogantly, to sweep forward and seize this Rusalka dog and rob him of life right on their territory's doorstep. He refrained, however - to earn that first kill mark had been a desire since puphood, but his would not be one made in secret. No, Dacio felt himself destined for greater things, and he wished for his mark to be earned gloriously on the battlefield.

Exhaling a soft breath, the ashen Gona abandoned his watch and resumed his hunt for his wayward sister. Aningan, with all the caution of a baby deer, could roam the fields peacefully that day, though Dacio continued to dream of the day that he would have his vengeance.
