All Welcome

The spirit stalked through the meadows, a wisp following the darkness she could see ahead. A place of solitude, where she could lay in a dreamless sleep as she rested her tired body. Peace wrapping around, she slipped into the trees of black, with a crimson eye giving one last look to the light of the meadow, and disappearing inside.

A ghost roamed inside.

Some rose with the sun. They basked in its warmth and the heat it cast upon them. They shone with its light and embraced the colors it brought. In the high of Summer, Grimsley was not that wolf. As night fell, Grimsley awakened, an easy yawn splitting his jaws. He rose to his feet, shaking out the debris that clung to his pelt after hiding away in the darkened woods all night. Deep red eyes glanced around himself, breathing in the night air that was still a bit too warm for his liking, before he chose a direction and headed out to leave the woods and seek the mountains.

As he neared the end of his temporary shelter, the luminous coat of a white creature caught his attention among the trunks. He stopped briefly, inhaling the night air. A she wolf. He had seen no one since he’d arrived back in the Wilds. He was not highly pressed for company, so he would have said, but he headed toward the female, nonetheless. As he drew close, he rumbled into the night, his low voice carrying easily in the quiet - "Good evening."

A behemoth seemed to found a home within the black forest. She was approached by a large dark man, hooding a mask of white upon his face- skeletal like, she thought, but truly something else caught her interest. Red eyes. She had not seen any other wolf besides herself, carrying such a gene. It intrigued Dragoon, who had been accompanied many who disdained such a feature.

Perhaps she gazed longer then intended, before shifting back to reality.

"Hello," she greeted back, cool and composed while looking upon the man. Quietly did she take a ponder around, seeing as there was only one, and one alone. The spirit smelled nothing like borders and assumed the land to be empty, but perhaps she was wrong, "Is this your home?" the mercenary inquired.

She looked back at him for longer than was customary and a small, almost imperceptible smile twitched his lips upward. Grimsley thought highly of himself - very highly. He took the stare, filled with neither disgust nor fear, as one of attraction and awe. He felt the familiar boost to his ego and when she finally did snap of out her own thoughts enough to speak, his lips pulled back to grin in earnest.

"Not at all." He rumbled, flicking a dismissive ear. "I belong far away from here and since I have chosen to abandon that place, I suppose the truth is that I live nowhere." He hadn't seen his family in many months. He was not missed, and the feeling was mutual. Both parties had their own lives to move on with and emotional bonds were not a factor in his old pack. He still maintained that mentality. "If you're looking for repose, you can find it here." It sounded a bit like permission and perhaps his tone did convey a subtle hint, but he was mostly recommending the place to the female. He'd slept the day without interruption. He imagined she'd fine the same.

Dragoon nodded along to his monologue. Unknown to the lands, she really didn't know who was a native and who was not, but the best was to assume those who were first, were the claimers. She wanted to be safe then sorry and cause trouble, prefering to keep to herself if all else. If had asked, the wisp was willing to leave in peace.

"It's a temporary stay until I find work." Hinting she wouldn't linger too long.

At her words, Grimsley perked up, his flirtatiousness leeching into a much more serious curiosity. "Work?" He asked, cocking his head ever slightly. She could mean mercenary work and Grimsley certainly wasn't interested in that. The way she had said the words, however, made him think that perhaps she was seeking somewhere to pledge herself - or to someone. He would absolutely be interested in that. He had been distracted looking for Tzila but his original purpose in coming to the Wilds in the first place had been to build his legacy. Perhaps he could start now. It was a little early, but he never closed a door with opportunity behind it.

"Mercenary." Dragoon doesn't remember too much of her life before then, but she didn't mind. The life was rather simple, where instead of settling down, she avoided any inner turmoils of a pack, or their continued struggles with others. She can withstand the disarray for the job that is needed, but prolonged, for a life that she wishes to settle? The ghost, wanted to avoid that.

"They provide food and shelter, I do the task that is given." A simple contract.
