All Welcome
there is a strangeness to settling in a pack whose claim was so far inland; distant from the sea. yet, kraken does not feel the miss of it was keenly as he, as cairn, perhaps should. the salt scent still lingers upon the windswept tendrils of his stonegray pelage but it is overpowered now by the stronger, more persistent scent of firefly glen. he gives himself a tour of the borders, walking them slowly so he might memorize them into muscle memory and then he heads further into the territory; towards its heart.

it is there he searches, in the cold morn before the sun began it’s rise in the sky, snuffling thru tall, dying grasses that sway and break off against his pawsteps, when he brushes too harshly against them, into his pelage, tangling with the wild fur. kraken seeks a den or, at least, something he might be able to turn into a den. a secluded place he could slumber without the itching need to watch his back.

these wolves are his packmates now but that does not soothe nor snuff out the primal instincts he’s been autopiloting on for some time now.

the terrible shadow.
the beast with a million eyes
and a million ears.
inhale the stars, exhale fire

Morning brought him back closer to their boundaries instead of ranging around just past them. Antares reasoned he could wind down from his nighttime prowl with a round of patrol, perhaps, and see who else was up to take off for the morning shift. He was not expecting anything too eventual to be going on, so went about his business quite casually for some time.

His ears perked up when he could hear something coming his way. A second longer to listen told him it was canine and soon, he saw them threading along much like himself; they were on opposing paths, bound to converge, which Antares carried forward with to approach the stranger. He was committed to finding out more at this point with his own cover likely just as blown.

He knew of some new faces among them and this had to be one, so, he whuffed a low little sound at him first to greet. If this were one of his brothers, he'd have nothing against stalking up on him in whatever eerie silence he felt like bringing today, but he didn't come out here intending to harass the new recruits today--not without knowing the sorts of wolf they might be. You're new, he followed up with once he was close enough to get a glimpse at his dramatic rib markings. Alright, interested... he thought, settling in beside the other, but still with a few paces between them. I'm Antares. His tail swayed subtly, held low, and the rest of him keyed in to listen.
