born to mira beside siblings athamas, ashkova and amneris. mira, the disenchanted heir to the ostrega family throne, sought children to build a militia group and take back the ostrega line for herself. however, not long after athalia's birth, she disappeared — along with her went her brothers.
lost and starving, athalia and amneris found shelter within bearclaw valley, where the newly-dispersed couple ancelin and ameline were beginning to set up shop. they subsequently went on to adopt the abandoned sisters. now, with amneris's own disappearance, athalia is the sole child of the bearclaw couple.
