she'd taken to watching the herd of deer that had chosen the plains as their grazing land for the time being; nowhere as interesting as the plateau's elk, yet better than tracking down all the small creatures. yet is was not the herd she sought today; yet rather one of the young of the pack, who she'd seen once of twice pouncing here and there, occasionally with a grasshopper or frog in maw.
she called lightly for the pups when she came within range of Cat's den; they'd surely be around her, somewhere, and gaze searched the hollow spaces between the underbrush for a glimpse of movement.
