He had been a fool to leave this place, and probably an even bigger fool to have returned.

Talion had never belonged in the Teekon, so he wasn't sure what it was that brought him toward their shores once more. He'd arrived there as a yearling, freshly ousted from his mother's pack and almost fearful of all things female. It was in these lands that he desperately sought a place for himself, somewhere he could find who he was and integrate with his own kind, which was all he'd ever wanted.

His time among the wolves of Moonspear was short-lived, but he'd known almost immediately that he could never be one of them. They were strong and brave, protective, fierce, the type that he could only ever hope to compare to. Talion had taken leave from them without a word, as he feared Hydra's sharp tongue should he confess how he truly felt.

Somehow, he survived that Winter. Talion bounced from pack to pack, yearning for the warmth of friendship and family, but years on he'd found nothing long-term. In the approach to real maturity came the strong urge to really settle down, seek a mate and rear a litter, but it seemed females were reluctant to take a coward as a mate. Still, he was hopeful, so his search continued.

He stopped to rest on a familiar plateau that evening, looking out over the valley below as he contemplated his next move.

the unsteady earth beneath her paws began stirrings of unease that would not rest, and yet she could not bring herself to abandon the planned hunt so easily. and so, as had the many days before, this one had her roaming outside of whitefish river, eager to find the herd whose behavior had become so sporadic as of late.

it isn't deer she finds, but a stranger—his is the type of face that while on initial glance appears entirely foreign, tugs at some chord of familiarity she can not place. it's this that had her hesitate a moment before nearing, chuffing a sift greeting as she makes her gradual approach, not entirely willing to interrupt the man's thoughts.

Talion lowered his haunches, content to settle for a time to look out over the valley below. It was beautiful beneath the dimming evening sunlight and he exhaled softly, glad for the opportunity to appreciate the view.

From the corner of an eye, he spotted the approach of another. He turned his head to look upon an ashen figure, instinctively pulling himself upright onto his paws as he noticed that she was female. To her he dipped his muzzle politely, respectfully, and welcomed her closer with a soft swish of his peppered tail.

There was something familiar about her as she drew near, something in the sharpness of her snout and the fine contours of her face. He observed her quietly for a moment before the warmth of her eyes sparked the memory of her on the nearby mountains, enough to make his smile bloom.

"I know your face," Talion said brightly as he tried desperately to recall a name to pair to such lovely features.
