Nasamik had not seen much of the secondhunter since the day he helped her pick out an ulaq.

The invitation for the two to hunt was long overdue.

Seeking the hunter, she lifted a soft call for the hunter to see if he might join her.

the soft call for him rises on the air and whatever path kivaluk had been taking was immediately diverted. kivaluk had a, perhaps bad, habit of throwing himself into work to avoid the emotions that had been surfacing.

worry about not having enough things for the bride dowry, about whether he'd even be able to find a wife, about his father's prolonged absence and how he felt miserable for not spending much time with his mother —

it was easier to work them away then face them. a fact that would, in time, no doubt come back to bite him at some point.

but for now, he is eager to throw himself into the next hunt: for the thrill, for what he could gather for the bride dowry, for the ability to feel useful.

hey, he greets nasamik with a smile tugging at the edges of his lips and a small wag of his tail as he finally comes upon her.
