There are five wolves per group. I can move around if I must, but I hope these groups work. That being said you should be able to roll for 1 or 2 Elk. Five wolves could probably take down 2 if they work well together. There is an adult and a youngster to be the lead two. I don't know if you want to have threads prior to this backdated or not. I hope you all have fun and enjoy. This will be Rodyn's first and only post in this thread.
Rodyn pulled from the depths more names, more bodies. He called forth the girl with the barbed tongue who thought strength was further than nay other @Cygnet. He hoped she would learn today that it was more than strength that helped you through. The wolf @Ancelin would lead this hunt beside the girl.
And he offered a smile as he called the rest @Akavir, @Kyrell and @Puffin.
The young could learn, the gentle could teach and the father could be proud.
Interested in Moontide? Rodyn is always available for threads.

Cygnet perked her ears as the names were called. As far as she could tell, if the man who organized the entire event called her to hunt, she would go; she could easily ignore that fallout so long as she was not teamed up with either of the red-furred girls.
She heard Mae’s name called- and she was assigned to another group. She huffed, gave her friend a nudge, and then waited.
Her name was called- and she was paired with a wild-looking man with fur that was a variety of colours. To her chagrin, Akavir was also assigned to her group- she strategically placed herself next to the Bearclaw man with the indigo eyes, willingly showing her obedience through the posture she offered as she greeted him. She showed deference to the others with a curt, but “as friendly as Cygnet gets” greeting of snuffled breath and averted eye contact.

hm. weird. cygnet and akavir had been quite the duo saying things at his border, not even that long ago. now they stood in opposites, the girl sidling right up to him instead of sticking by her dad. or whatever.
ancelin was a little put out that he wasn't with ameline, but he supposed he couldn't have everything he wanted. there'd been no sign of redtail wolves thus far, which relaxed him.
they exchanged breath and he grunted, "we know valley hunting. stay close. we'll try to wound two and go back for the second," he decided, a reckless strategy but one that might appeal to anyone's sense of glory.

The hunters had been called and Kyrell approached his assigned group readily. Emerald eyes swept over his hunting companions. All were strangers to him, but the small girl held upon her the salt of Moontide. He offered the group a friendly wave of his tail upon arrival.
The hunt leaders were both youthful. The woodsman's ears cupped toward them as the man, Ancelin spoke. A bold strategy at play to achieve victory twice over. Kyrell carefully measured the risks within his own head. It was possible, they would just need to be coordinated to be successful. Not to mention to be mindful of their own endurance. The would have to turn back once downing the first animal.
His gaze traveled to his side upon the Moontide girl. He trusted that the leaders and the elder man had hunting experience, but how seasoned was Puffin? This he was not certain of and silently resolved to keep aware if she at any point lagged behind. He offered the girl a smile, hoping to be encouraging.
Kyrell was eager to achieve it.

It will take us all in great form to hunt two. Let us not be afraid to assist one another achieve our goal.

Cygnet was summoned to assist in leading one of the hunt groups and he hoped this meant she and Mae had done what had been laid before them to earn the privilege to do so. The way she blatantly ignored him and sidled up alongside the man she had all but given a death stare only a moon or so ago didn’t inspire much confidence in the thought.
He joined the group—a quick glance given to the others who joined them and a nod of greeting given—otherwise, he remained unreadable.
Ancelin spoke—desiring to take down two of the beasts. It was ambitious and dangerous at best—particularly given most of them had never hunted or met one another.
Still, he would do what tasked with—and he gave a silent nod of acquiescence, trying not to worry about how his blind daughter was doing while placed with a group of strangers if Cygnet and he were here.

@Kyrell spoke wisely, and ancelin glanced briefly over his notched ears and hunter's build. a nod to @Akavir and they set off, the variegated man motioning for @Cygnet to stay close.
@Puffin he sent toward the moonglow man, leaving the swiftcurrent leader open to help in other ways. as the herd loomed ahead, ancelin sent his gaze scudding over the group, through their number. "there's a lame doe on the left," he chuffed to the others. "and a sick yearling on the right."
far apart. he frowned a little as he found his strategy, ignoring the hunters for a moment. "the doe first. they'll leave her behind. the yearling second. we'll cut the herd in two groups. mind the stag," ancelin said of the tall male who grazed beyond the herd.
pausing to see if this was understood, he turned; if there was no other reason to wait, their hunt began now.

Cygnet's jaw trembled in anticipation. She looked to the others in the group, her eyes fetching momentarily on the man who she thought, for a moment, had a yellow butterfly perched on each ear. They weren't butterflies at all- but she couldn't figure out exactly what they were, and they certainly didn't look normal. He spoke in an oddly formal way, which made Cygnet a bit more aware of how little she spoke.
She simply grunted in agreement.
Her eyes sought out the targets, marking first the doe whose head bobbed every time the lame leg was used, and over to the yearling whose pelt was thin and dull. She clicked her teeth together, and moved in at Ancelin's side.

the doe first.
long legs exploded into movement; the hunters forked and ancelin kept cygnet beside him as flowing limbs pounded to signal the elks' retreat.
a daring plan.
ancelin led the way after their first quarry, leaping to cut throat and hang while he was dragged across earth and through the trees.
teeth pulled her; held her; now! to the swiftcurrent girl, and then as the animal reeled, bleeding, ancelin turned with black eyes to find the yearling creature.

As per my recent post, I will be withdrawing from this thread. Kyrell can be power played assisting in the hunt. His focus would be keeping Puffin safe, crowd control of the herd, and running down fleeing prey, but place him where you need him! I had previously asked Puffin's player if she could be power played and did receive a yes. Kyrell would not stray far from her, as he wants to teach. This will be my last post in this thread <3
As the hunting party began to move. Kyrell would invite Puffin to his side with a woof. Should she join him, he would offer her guidance such has to not run directly behind an elk and to be mindful of their hooves. For elk were powerful and if the sharp hooves did not cause injury the kick itself surely would.
With a keen eye Ancelin marked their targets. The adult cow would be their first objective. Emerald eyes swept over the herd, viewing both the cow and yearling. A cut down the middle of the herd would be the immediate solution, but dangerous to be pinched between the prey animals.
Kyrell would nod to Ancelin when the man turned to the party.
Once the hunt started Kyrell would run with a measured stride. He would rush the herd with a slight angle. A move to cut through the bodies and disturb the animals surrounding the injured elk. It separated him and Puffin from the main party, but he would first have the girl learn to run among the large ungulates before taking her first bite. He would have her use her teeth once their targets had been separated.
The woodsman watched the hunt leads out his periphery, the valley wolves were swift and fierce. The elk, now panicked, broke formation and scattered through the trees. The patchworked form of Ancelin had turned, crimson stained his face. he creek girl at his side. The tang of iron bloomed in the air. Kyrell's heart quickened, but he knew better than to pursue the now wounded cow.
Emerald eyes turned away, through the trees the ailing yearling hobbled and heaved. Eyes narrowed, Kyrell would bark an alert before guiding Puffin into chase of the next target.
