the babies were growing, and quickly. the benefit of brecheliant was that she had many to watch them. she took advantage of that when she could, as in today; she left the little ones in the loving arms of their grandparents and stole down to the lake.
for a time chickadee only floated in the shallows, but she scrubbed herself after. these days she often smelt strongly of baby poop and milk. it was good to have that layer gone. when i get out i'll roll in those new pine needles, she thought quietly to herself, enjoying the warm touch of the afternoon sun.
