It's just because he's confused and doesn't want to hear about other Gods (never mind that he talks about his all the time), lol.

“Is it selfish of us, then? To take the hard work of another pack? To take their wolves against their will? All so we can grow stronger by producing sons with their women - and men if the master is a woman, so that our caches grow fat with their meat?” It was these damn summer wolves and their morals; and really, it wasn’t so much of Ragnar questioning himself as it was wondering if the things he and his kinsmen had done that had made them seem as if they were these things. “Does that make us heathens?” In truth, he just wanted his curiosity sated. There was much he wanted to know, always wanting to know more, and more never satisfied with the knowledge he had. In that Ragnar understood he was greedy. Odinn had been the same way, had been so willing to sacrifice his eye for knowledge; yet Ragnar took it a step further than his revered. He would give much more to acquire knowledge.

“That is stupid,” He respected her faith enough to let her believe it, to let her pray to her empty and hollow God but that didn’t mean Ragnar had to (or did) agree with it. Would it not have been easier for her if she believed in something tangible? There was proof (as far as Ragnar was concerned) that his Gods existed. Ragnar himself was a (supposed) descendent of Odinn. “What flowers?” Her comparison had abruptly proven to confuse Ragnar because as far as he was aware he could see flowers just fine. “I don’t want to change it, or her,” Ragnar contradicted Thistle, shaking his head. “I only want to understand.” Though he didn’t realize how hard he made it for others to understand. “Anyway,” Ragnar spoke abruptly with the intent of changing the subject. “Is there anything you’re hungry for?” He knew he needed to get to his patrols, loathe as he was to leave her side. His inquiry about her hunger had been for future reference so he knew what to bring her for lunch.
