The woods, coupled with his sense of adventure and the young Scarlett, had kept him grounded. When combined, they’d made it so that he couldn’t just leave and return to the land whence he’d come so easily. No, he had needed to stay, for not only them but the children he had created, too. And though neither Scarlett nor two of his daughters were around, still, Blackfeather stood tall.
