it was about time they head home. they'd seen a lot, even making it past the barrier mountains he'd once thought impassable. all in all, it had been a good trip down the coast with @Dawn, but he knew that they couldn't be away from morningside forever. they were both needed there, in their respective roles. and anyway, he was excited to get back and see grayday and pema, and the new babes.
for now, he enjoyed the sea as much as he could, picking his way down the coastal cliffs. he'd left dawn to nose around an area of the beach, intrigued by the number of shells to be found there, but soon moved on, silky pelt fluttering in the salty breeze. a bit later, he came across a collection of tidal pools, each of them hounded by a number of squawking sea birds.
adi surged toward one of these pools, scattering the winged creatures with a playful bark. screeching in irritation, they flapped away in a flurry, and he ducked, avoiding their talons and beaks as he laughed with delight. not willing to piss off any more birds today, he moved on, weaving through the pools, humming an old tune to himself. he was just about to turn back when he caught a glimpse of white among the gray and gold.
a lone female, standing by herself, looking at the sea. intrigued, he padded toward her with a chuff of friendly greeting, wagging his tail. "hello, there," he said, smiling.
