thought i would reply to this and perhaps mahler could say agana was just too sleepy! C:

His frail stomach tumbled in turmoil; his poor head distressed at the looming presence of the mountain-worn gargoyle. He could not see, but he knew, he felt. Agana's teat was his birthright! His and the lone star's only. He could viciously protect every exposed breast, but he might as well this one. Still startled, the starlit imp sung high-pitched siren songs that would easily scare off any wayward sailors, they weren't that weak minded. Astraeus doubted the man could withstand such an overwhelming power, and until the day he weaned, the wretched gargoyle had ought to keep his tail between his trembling thighs and retreat to the mountains' veil. 

He could sing all the meanwhile, of course. His new chest and soft bones needed small intervals of a simple breathless whimper, then an eager return to to a lone chorus. Astraeus' was truly a fish in the sea, as if the gift of foodstuffs was made for him, his bequest. Truly, no one could have predicted such a greedy birth. After his song was done, Astraeus' sniffed and turned his body lax. Sliding down Agana's now childless belly he whimpered sheepishly as sleep had come to kiss his wet brow. Curling against the fattened teat, Astraeus' warbled off into a sleepless rest, sure that his food stock was secure.
