Redsand Canyon Lean in close

His wandering had brought him across the valley and into the other, more familiar range. He had entered through the strange red canyon and followed it north where he knew a more plentiful valley lay. His slow, focused pace had changed into trot as he hurried to get out of the already too warm canyon. 

But something striking made him freeze, his paws skidding a little in the dirt. She couldn't have looked more out of place here. Her fluffy coat was stained from the sand, the contrasting colors so striking that he wondered, at first, if he was seeing things. He blinked a few times before recovering and trotted off after her.  

When he was close enough, he let out short, low howl to let her know he was there. Strangers had only been entertaining so far, and he seriously needed to ask her what she was doing here. She looked as if she was supposed to be perched atop a throne somewhere, not running through the red dirt of the canyon. He was intrigued.
