He uttered a satisfied grunt at the expression on her face. Fortunately, she didn't seem too offended; and once she explained that she was full of writhing children, and not squirming worms, he picked the ewe up by the throat and carried it over toward her without hesitation, stepping wide so that the corpse could trail between his legs. 

The fact that she could feel them moving didn't disturb him at all. He let go of the ewe and fell back, laying on the ground in a sphinx position opposite her, with the kill between them. He made no move to eat, however. "It's a good sign." He said, his tone optimistic. He seemed to realize something, and sniffed the air, looking around to see if he could spot any other wolves nearby who might be protective of their pregnant matriarch. "You uh, got a crew?" He asked.
