Ocean's Breath Plateau A whole new world

Raindrop had woken from her nap, and she’d gotten used to the nursing so much that sleeping was no problem as their gummy little mouths latched on. Her ear swirled then lifted her head to see Ponderosa crawling towards the hill up to the den mouth, but did not hold her back, because really she couldn’t go too far. “You are a strong one, ‘Rosa, and soon you will see the sun, the ocean.” She whispered to newly opening ears, “When you four are ready, I will take you to the water.”

Oh, how fast they grew, she couldn’t hardly believe that their ears and eyes were beginning to open. Soon, they would be walking, playing in the sun, splashing in the waves, digging in the sand. She wanted to cherish these moments before they were swept away, like sand after a wave rolls in.
