His ears perked at her signal of pain, immediately stopping to cast his worried gaze over her. She licked at her paw so, it surely wasn't the lacerations to her neck that had troubled her. Good, he didn't want another medical emergency in the middle of nowhere again.
He took a few steps towards her, "Here let me-" He was cut off by her victory of the task; and her tumbling backward.

He appeared at her side, carefully investigating whether her wounds had broken open again, his nose snuffling through her fur. Everything seemed in place. He moved his nose to her cheek, nudging her softly, "Are you ok?" Concern was rife in his voice, as it was in his eyes.

Soon, he turned his attention to the bone she'd pulled. It seemed to be a rib, laying in all its curved crudity on the floor. He scowled at it for half a second before moving towards it, nosing along it so gather information.
"It's a rib bone. Seems to be as old as perhaps...a year or two." He cast a glance to Keen, "See, it's still smooth and the ends aren't all cracked. But what do I know," he finished with a grin. "Good job."  As he always kept to, any work done well was worthy of praise.
