You may also eat him if you dare! But remember eating infected tissue is a way to contract rabies - make sure to do your research of likelihood of transmission before eating. .  

The quakes were over, but the terror from mother nature’s fury had only just begun. Wildlife in the area was slim, with those that survived often infected by raging sickness. A bull moose, outwardly healthy save for the gashes of a past onslaught on his hips, passed through the Point. He knew not his time was limited. Attacked by a rabid wolf a week earlier, the moose had since lost much of its sentience, and wandered 

He walked with an uncertain gait, though by no means was disoriented. His ears moved at a constant rate, and in more than one instance, the moose charged at anything to cross his path that appeared alive; most were odd trees struck down by the quake, or strangely assembled rocks. His massive tines often easily mowed down the fallen trees, pushing through detritus with the clean efficiency of an immensely powerful bushwhacker. 

The moose went in search of food and his herd - both gone from the wilds. Exhausted, with an insidious virus slowly taking ahold of his faculties, the moose pressed onward.
