Neeeeeeh, the boy wailed disconsolately. Beneath his belly, he could feel the pillbug struggling to escape. It served only to make matters worse. Each tickle of its body made him paralyze further, so by the time Erzulie and Njord sought to comfort him, Sobo was frozen with fear and trembling below their investigative snuffles.

Njord's rough voice was a brief comfort, but then the bug began moving again. Sobo let out a high-pitched shriek, one that would rival even the loudest of Mireille's, and lurched forward into his pop's embrace to get away from it. From under a thin red tail snuck the pillbug, writhing left and right as it desperately sought an escape. There was no reason Sobo should be so afraid of such a harmless creature...

But fears didn't subscribe to anyone's idea of logic. That was clear in the wild shaking of his body against Njord's warm chest.
