The domino effect of too many bodies crammed upon the ledge caused one hell of a twist: Aventus plummeting the test of the way, with Val nearly following suit where their bodies tangled. Stryx reacted to the shifting body before she could think - snapping her teeth across Val's hip and pulling, which happened to be enough leverage to stop the boy from falling too.

When she released him, Stryx was out of breath but trying to condemn him for such a stupid, reckless move; but as she gasped, he ran. Down in to the dark, where Arielle was shouting.

Stryx hurried after him and reached the bottom as Val lunged in to the darkness. She paused to inspect Aventus first, and then looked for Arielle, whose voice clearly carried within the rift.

Arielle! He needs medical attention. Stop with all of this. I can't help him alone! Stryx shouted, unwilling to leave the man in the dirt unless she absolutely had to.

Arielle!! Do you really think killing this child is more important right now? At the very least Stryx's voice would flood the darkness and lend awareness to the child waiting within. Get her, Val. Save her.
