Day held his breath as this announcement, especially when it was not quickly followed by the wails of a newborn. He could hear the girl still whimpering and snuffling, but there were no new voices from within the den. The male shot Krypton a panicky look, but eventually, he was able to breath a sigh of relief at the cry of his second son.
"We haven't even talked about names yet," he said to Krypton, a bit of a laugh in his voice.

She watched carefully, craning her neck to see the next little angel enter the world. Krypton let it a small breath of relief to hear that the boy was healthy and breathing. When Day cast a look towards her before this was announced, Krypton did her best to give him a reassuring smile to let him know it was normal and that everything was going to be alright.
Upon hearing the topic of names come up, Krypton could only chuckle. "They'll come naturally" she said to him with a light laugh.

The first two suckled quietly at Khoe's side, both of them being in seemingly great health. There was still at least one left in there, but she didn't have it in her to push again just yet. Luckily for both of them, this last pup was small enough that not much effort was required to get her out into the world. Once the sac was cleaned off and she too was beginning to latch on, Khoe called to invite Grayday (and Krypton, if she could fit) back into the den.
Thank God it's over.
I think it's over, she said, her voice strained and rough.
Thank God it's over.

Grayday let out an uneasy breath. It was over, she said - but when the birth ended was often when the troubles began. "Are they all okay? Are you?" he asked softly, moving into the mouth of the den to peer at the four beloved figures inside. Although Khoe's voice was wan, there was a healthy, vigorous scent to the den. For a moment, his eyes traced the dark lines of his mate's pretty face - but he could not keep his eyes away from his children for very long.
"Three," he breathed, a tiny smile quirking his lips. Two more daughters and another son.

For what seemed to be forever, the waiting was finally over. Akuti was now a mother with three healthy kids, and Krypton couldn't be happier for her. Her tail was wagging a mile a minute as she watched, sometiems lifting her shoulders to get a better look at the little puppies. Gosh, Day was going to have fun dealing with another litter of kids. At least, he will have a mother that will hopefully stick through with him unlike the last one, whatever her name was. He was in good hands now.
"Three puppies" she said, almost breathlessly as she exchanged Day a grand smile, "congradulations Day, and congradulations Akuti" she said happily. Krypton knew she wouldn't be able to fit in with Day inside, so she opted to stand at the entrance and view from afar. She didn't mind, it wasn't her special moment anyways, it was theirs.
