the vagabond had not so quickly forgotten about his sunbathed affair and the gift he'd promised to his willowy companion. he'd spent enough time in the forest cradling the mountains to have found what he thought to be a suitable present.
in his jaw he carefully clutched a well spun bird's nest that had never held any life in it. long abandoned before any eggs or young could hatch from it's bed, having likely fallen from a branch during a mid-summer storm. in it was an arrangement of colorful wildflowers plucked from a meadow, their petals still vibrant and full of life.
he gently set his gift hidden away in one of the many nooks the butte had to offer before he stepped aside a few paces and lifted his head to call for @Sari.

On the wind, not so very far away, S’ari heard a vaguely familiar tune. Someone was calling her, but who? By the call, it was a wolf and not a fellow Coyote. Male. So not Meerkat or her mother.
Alphus.
With a grin, she picked up the pace, her paws flying along the sands. As she ran, she lifted her head to the skies and sang a coyote song in return, to let him know she was coming.
And there he was, and she skidded to a stop and stared at him across some distance.

Has this one found S’ari a gift already?she asked, coming towards him slowly, swaying her hips.
She is glad you have not forgotten her.Her eyes glittered in the sun.

his first venture into the desert had been unplanned, unexpected, and certainly unprepared for. he’d carefully planned out his journey this time around, and had been sure to fill himself with drink before he ventured into the brutal heat once more.
above in the cloudless sky he heard her answer, and he fixed himself to sit in the shade of the towering hill until her arrival.
it did not take her nearly as long as it would have for him to trek the distance from which it sounded she came from. an expert of the sand and dunes she was indeed.
as soon as her slim figure materialized in the distance he stood to go greet her. “mayybbeee,” he teased with a grin spread wide across his maw at her question of a gift. “forget you? impossible,” he let out as he aimed to give her side a friendly bump.
