Unbeknownst to her little "aqua-bat," Wildfire wished to take her youngest daughter to the pack's private beach, Wamplei Daun, certain the Goufa would enjoy the tide pools there immensely. But because it required either a trip through the caves or a treacherous climb down the cliffs, she put it off for another day and instead took Bat to the lake. The pup hemmed and hawed prior to their departure, though the instant the Feisripa mentioned "a huge puddle," she perked up a bit and fell into step.

Bat gasped audibly when they came upon the territory's centerpiece. She immediately made a beeline for the water, laughing loudly as she splashed into the cool shallows. She grinned over at her mother, who stood at the water's edge to keep an eye on her, then happily began frolicking about in the lake. Bat didn't need anyone or anything else to keep her entertained; she was delighted just to be in the water. In fact, she didn't even notice it when @Artaax appeared and joined their mother on the shore, the two of them chatting as the water baby played.

By Kiwi's estimation, it wasn't fair that Bat got to go on a trip with mom (again) and she wasn't invited, so the now highly jealous pup decided she was going to follow.  Where were they going anyway? Probably somewhere super cool that Bat wouldn't even appreciate.  Bat didn't even like exploring.

Her little tail upright and in a right tiff, Kiwi marched along.  She had to double back a few times, but she thought this was the right way...

Slowly her jealousy faded in the fun of trying to track her mother's scent, and by the time she arrived, she was so fully engrossed that her eyes were closed.  Thus, she ended up running her nose straight into her.

"Found you!" She yelled, then galloped around, splashing into the shallows of the pool with a giggle.

Bat remained oblivious to Kiwi's abrupt arrival, only cottoning on to her presence when her sister joined her in the pool. "Hey!" she shouted, tone uncharacteristically indignant. Not only had her sister scared away the fish she was observing, she wasn't supposed to be here... was she? Bat squinted toward where her mother and brother sat on the shore.

Wildfire had already stepped into the shallows. "Kiwi, what are you doing here?" Bat could hear the edge of anger in their mother's voice. She felt a little bad for her litter mate, though at the same time, she wanted to have the lake all to herself, as she'd been promised. Bat hoped Wildfire would send Kiwi away.

The Feisripa had considered doing just that—sending Kiwi back to Hougeda with Artaax to escort her there—but since he was here, at least that was an extra set of eyes. Bat was given an apologetic glance right before Wildfire compromised by saying, "You can play for a bit, then Taax will take you back to Hougeda."

Bat's eyes watched as Wildfire retreated, then tracked back to Kiwi. She felt a little irked, though she liked her sister well enough (when she wasn't being a know-it-all). Besides, being annoyed required energy that the Goufa didn't want to spare right now. With that said, she couldn't resist the urge to kick at the water, sending a splash of freshwater directly at Kiwi's face.

She ignored Bat's indignation rather easily, continuing to splash playfully, but when Wildfire's voice angrily questioned, Kiwi's ears pressed back. There was only an edge, but it reminded her that yeah, she wasn't supposed to be here.  And that wasn't fair!

To a pup who assumed the whole world revolves around her wants, even being told 'you can stay a while' merited arguing.  Especially because she got here fine herself, so she didn't need Artaax babysitting her back.

"No." She said, sitting down with an emphatic flop as Bat splashed her.  She stuck her tongue out at her sister playfully, no longer focusing her anger on her - now mom would get the brunt of it.  "Imma stay.". If Bat got to be here, that meant she should get to be here.

When Kiwi stuck out her tongue, Bat couldn't resist the childish urge to respond in kind. But she slowly withdrew it at her sister's defiant words, eyes once again flicking to Wildfire. Her ears shifted backward apprehensively and she shook her head at Kiwi as if to say, What're you doing?!

On the bank, Wildfire kept her cool, though she motioned at Artaax. He came to stand beside her, rather expressionless as he peered at his littler sisters. "All right. Playtime's over, young lady," the Feisripa said, voice soft but stern. "Go with Taax. Now."

Kiwi took a step back as Wildfire reinforced her previous statement, only moving up the timeline to now.  It took her closer to Bat... surely her sister could see how unfair this was!? She glanced at her again, this time unsure, but she could feel her face heating up with anger and threatening tears at the callout.

"It's not FAIR.  Why's Bat get to play an I gotta go!?"  Her voice took on a slight plaintive edge as it rose.  She didn't want to hang out with Tux and Silkie.  She wanted to hang out with mom and Bat.  And she was finding she did not react well to being left out.

Bat's big ears folded and she hunched at her sister's cries. It made her deeply uncomfortable to witness this. Evidently, not only didn't she like putting effort into things, she also greatly disliked conflict. It didn't help that she couldn't decide whose side she was on here. Wildfire was defending their right to some one-on-one time but Kiwi sounded genuinely hurt. The Goufa hated it.

Voice still gentle but firm, Wildfire addressed the upset Kiwi. "It's important to me that I get to spend time alone with each of you and right now is Bat's turn. You'll get yours later. We'll do whatever you like. I promise." There was a pause before she added, "But only if you do as I ask and go with Artaax."

Somewhere in there, Bat had screwed her eyes shut, as if avoiding looking at the scene would make it go away. But now she slowly opened one eye to peer at Kiwi, hoping her sister took the deal. Bat couldn't stand this tension going on much longer.

No, she did not understand, and she did not like it still.  It didn't matter if Wildfire would spend alone time with her in the future.  She wanted to be there now and didn't want to go back.

She glanced back at Bat, though, and saw her discomfort.  And while normally Kiwi would have pressed the issue, instead, she deflated. Only for a moment.  Then her little tail lifted, and she trotted out of the water.

"Fiiine."  She didn't meet her mom's gaze though, and instead began the trek back to the den.  Likely Artaax would catch and accompany, and she'd accept it without further complaint.  Though she knew now she could totally find her way back alone.

She felt the tension leak from her small body when Kiwi relented and turned to go, plodding behind a dutiful Artaax. Bat opened her other eye and sat up straighter again, huge ears erect once more. She licked her lips a little nervously as the two disappeared into the brush, calling a belated, "Bye!" in Trigedasleng after them.

Her attention shifted uncertainly to Wildfire, as if afraid her mother's irritation might persist and transfer to her. But the Feisripa only smiled apologetically at her as she waded into the shallows to join her offspring. "Sorry about that, Bat," she said as she nipped at one of the toddler's over-sized ears. "What were you looking at? Before Kiwi came?"

"A fishie!" the Goufa exclaimed excitedly, entirely forgetting about the preceding scene.

"Would you like to learn how to catch it?" the Feisripa invited.

The entire pack probably heard Bat's explosive, "YESH!"

Though she was a terrible fisher, Wildfire patiently demonstrated the craft to the small Goufa. They spent the better part of an hour trying to bait and capture the small fish that darted about their feet, though in the end, the only captured a frog instead, which Bat carried proudly back to Hougeda, a gift (read: peace offering) for @Kiwi from both mother and sister.
