A fleeting shadow led to a desperate search. She thought she saw him, the familiar silvers of a purple hue, and the calcuating white eyes that gave an unknown coldness to her. She felt he was a stranger, but Desdemona was desperate to catch a glimpse, a voice, or even a rumor of him. She so desired to see this long lost brother, whome disappeared during the night many seasons ago.. She thought she saw is ghost, and without hesitation, went after it. A long journey through the winter, there was no doubts or worries to what she did, because the dame thought she would be back. Or would she? Her jades focused head on, unclear on her actions would have caused, for she was desperate. Desperate to say sorry to him.

But she didn't. The shadow she thought she spotted never came to be, as her blood brother was never to be seen. A trick of the light? A hallucination? Desdemona wasn't sure, but she felt empty as she gained nothing through this. So, she headed back through the ice and snow, a sorrow hung on her shoulders as she walked back to the forest. Yet, she smelled no one, and could hear no one. She was unaware that they had moved to another pack, and the lass only searched through the forest with a bitterness. Morningside was no more.

There was no one. There was only her, alone again, loyalty faltering to the abyss.

The beast had crossed the river, safely and almost dryly. She now prowled towards where she last knew of a pack, easily accessible and easily toyed with. The trees were her advantage.
However, she smelt the fading scent of the wolves; long gone. Her quarry had moved on as if they sensed her approaching malice.
Oh well, she could still catch something, hopefully.

She moved into the hunting ground, scouting a place to roost for a while as she waited for something to pass under her. Something to satisfy the hunger in her.
As the hours dragged on and the chill picked up with a soft sprinkling of snow, she grew bored. Now she had two types of hunger to comply with.
More actively now, Lischo dropped from her tree to hunt, anything would do.

Silently, she moved. Her tail swiped the frigid air and her great paws dented the snow. Little did she know, a wolf was following up behind her.

The dark wolf wandered, her paws followed the same path they once did. She looped the abandoned area, as so her patrol routine requested to do every morning, every afternoon, and once again at night before her jades were to rest. Even without the others, she would not fail her duties. Even though they were gone, Desdemona would mark, and she would wait for them. Wait for their return.

Such a shame she was alone, as her slimmed neck rustled upward as a glare grossed onto her dark face. A turn from the usual corner, but an anomaly breached her vision as a figure not of wolf, and not of Morningside was in front of Desdemona. The scent of a pack have faded, and the predators have entered the zone. She felt it would be foolish to chase a cougar away, alone, but she felt her loyalty toward the place made her desire to challenge the cat.

The dark lass stood her ground, a snarl crawling to her maw as she glared ahead, contemplating to be foolish and challenge, but keep the forest safe from predators. There was no one to protect.. But she desired to keep it safe, for the day they return.

She was too focused on searching to notice the figure creeping behind her until a growl cut towards her. The cat whirled, eyes searching for the one that challenged — only to be met with a small, lone wolf.

— A toy!

Perhaps they had been left behind by whatever dwell here first; maybe a sickness was claiming her mind and was slowly starting to ruin her judgment. Lischo saw her chance to play.

She crept forward, predatory silence radiating from her, her belly grazed the ground. She was closer now if the wolf held still she’d be in striking distance — if it was foolish enough to attack then it would be much the same outcome. The feline burst upwards with a yowl and hit the wolf across the face with a sheathed paw. Not a claw extended to hurt. She’d do that later.
For now, she ran towards a tree and lept up its trunk, vertically clinging to it a few meters up and peering down to watch the wolf.

Desdemona was perplexed, as her jades stared at the playful fellow across. She had felt no bloodthirst and kept at bay, so it gave the fae a surprise when the other suddenly lurched forward and attacked. Yet, she felt no pain, nor' was there the familiar crimson falling from her face, rather, she got slapped. It was too late to dodge by the time she realized the other got close enough, and she was thankful no claw was extended. She wouldn't let it happen again however.. Small, but she was lean, and slim, agility and speed has always been her forte. She felt even to a feline, she wouldn't be too far behind.

Though now she realized what was the situation, Desdemona leaned toward more of a guard, visibly growling at the other who viewed the situation as a game then of life. A cougar with a tricky personality, she thought, as her legs digged into the ground, ready to charge forward at any given time. Neither would flee, and so perhaps a fight may come.

When she saw the wolfess wasn’t leaping to snap at her tail, she dropped down and faced the growling predator. She stalked closer, not fearing her ability to maim should the toy decide to use teeth against her.
What an inferior being.

She cast her gaze over the small creature before letting her lips ride up to bare at the creature and a low warning sound rumbled from her. Her tail lashed behind her, displeased by the show of her toy that should be cowing before her. She extended her claws, her eyes tracing the body.
What would she strike first?

She brought her paw up, tentative and curious. She brought it down, hard and harsh, on the face of the wolfess again — clawless. She quickly brought the other paw up and clouted the toy across the ear.  She would give it a chance before trying to shred it, or maybe she’d simply let it go. They wouldn’t know until it was done.

Desdemona may be in a unwise situation, but she was not foolish. She wouldn't chase the other knowing the difference in speed, much less the ability to climb a tree. She would calculate her openings, and her ways to get the other away from the area itself. She didn't want to back down, and continued to snarl at the other, watching, and waiting for the tricks to come over. Her jades glossing, scrutinizing every move this cougar would make. Even the tint of her eye, of another looking down at her. A look she was used to, and unphased by it.

She didn't let the other continue her game of slap, and promply leapt to the side before the other was to cuff at her ears and face. No claws, but that didn't mean she would simply let the other get what she desires. When Desdemona's dark and lithe paws retouched the snowy surface after the quick dodge, she let a warning snap at the feline, wanting to grab a quick bite at anywhere, simply to cause damage. Even if she managed to miss, she would be quick to leap backwards.  Maybe with a quick hint of pain, the other would flee, so she hoped.

The wolf dodged her swipes. No matter, it was time to stop playing with her food anyways.
A snap and clash of jaws that made a stinging contact to her ear angered her -- prey wasn't supposed to fight back!
She released a bloodcurdling yowl and lept for the dark she-wolf, claws outstretched and jaws opening to reveal large, needle teeth.
Blood ran from her ear down the back of her head where it was ripped, the cold air making the wound sting.

Soon, hopefully, it would be over and she could paint the woods with its protector's blood.
Or so the cat thought.
Whether she hit or missed the succession of unsheathed blows on the wolf's body, she would run away. No point sticking around when the creature may still fight.
If she later found blood on her paws, she would return to finish the job.

The dark wolf was prepared on some defense, and was quick to back away when she heard the bloody screech of the feline. It was a quick tip to the side, but she felt a wince when a knick came to be. Her speed could not match that of a cat, and she almost felt ashamed by this factor, that even her training did not help in this small moment. Her senses felt they have been dulled. It wasn't deep enough to paint the white with crimson, but enough where she felt a wound open up right near her cheek. She did not know if the other caught a bit of her blood, nor' did it mattered anymore...

The other fled, and she contemplated onto following. For if the cougar dared to go deeper into the forest, Desdemona would track the feline down, and try to best the other. She growled and bristled while watching the other run.
