All Welcome
task thread. <3
with a hefty helping of dead rabbits stacked away amongst their land, diaspora was fairly well off-- at least, until the next hunt rolls around. she was tired, although being tired wasn't an excuse for slacking off-- and she had no intention to. she trots through the land, sniffing the air for the scent of fresh water which she had every intention of following upstream. it was a bit of a walk, but not one she had any issues with; walking helped her clear her head. it was something she enjoyed. once reaching the lake that cut through the land, observing the current, she walks amongst its edges. carefully, delicately-- listening to the rushing noise get louder with every step closer she took. her trot continues though, as the rushing of the water starts to get drowned out by a much louder noise: a roar. pounding, louder it gets every moment. she hadn't realized there was a waterfall in the territory... and couldn't help but wonder where it came from.

Ruenna often found herself at the base of Arrow Lake's waterfall. The relentless sound of crashing water drowned out her thoughts and muffled her memories, allowing Ruenna prescious moments of peace to simply.. exist. To heal. To restart.

Finch's coat was a lovely swirl of creams, golds, and ivory, and quite recognizable even from afar. Rue rose to her feet as her packmate approached, her tail swinging invitingly. Noting the focus of Finch's gaze, she commented,  "Such a remarkable sight, hmm? And right here in our own territory." An on-site waterfall might not be the most practical feature, but you sure couldn't beat it for beauty.

it wasn't long before finch found herself with company-- welcome company, inviting company. she was new, she noted, and although the golden idol had not the time yet to get to know ruenna personally, she admired the girl for her gorgeous coat and way of words. with a sway of her tail, finch approached the marbled canine with a sway of her own.

her voice was soft amongst even the rushing waters that roared into their lake & she might have almost found herself swooning a little, catching herself with a shake of her fur. she responds with a gentle nod of her head, turning her gaze towards the waterfall. it was beautiful. she had never seen many of these at her home in the coast; they didn't really linger in oceans as they do in lakes. she lost herself in the falls before snapping back into reality, turning towards ruenna, swiveling her ears. ,,do you think... there's any secrets it holds?'' perhaps the question was odd, but there was something mystical in the air.

Finch seemed glad for the company, as was Ruenna. The golden lady turned back to Rue with a question, and at first Rue simply.. blinked. She had never thought of a waterfall as being able to hold much of anything, particularly secrets. This one seemed honest enough at least. But Finch probably knew much more on these matters than Rue.

The champagne woman gave a tilt of her head, her eyes of warm honey glowing in curiosity. "I suppose we don't know unless we look, do we?" Rue was unclear as to exactly what sort of secret they were investigating, but she was eager to spend more time in the resplendent aura of her present company.

she nodded, taking in wholly the words of the lady beside her. she sniffs around the area, taking in the smell of the rushing water. a clear smell.

anyone who says water doesn't taste differently depending on where you are was wrong.

quiet whines escape her throat as she curiously investigates the falls, doing what she can to block out the merciless roar it gave. again, it was falling... but from where? finch strolls back towards ruenna, making a half-circle around the wolf before stopping at her right flank, turning her crown skywards. she pins one of her ears back, swivels the other, squints... trying to find the source.

Finch began her investigation, meandering around the base of the waterfall before turning her gaze upward. But it wasn't something skyward that had caught Rue's attention, it was something upon the ground. Rue's brow knit, her eyes glued to one boulder in particular.

When Finch had passed by the small boulder, Rue thought she had seen something: movement, out of the corner of her eye. As Rue neared the dubious boulder, she could feel the chilly spray of the waterfall sprinking across her spine, dampening her fur. She lowered her muzzle to sniff at the base of the boulder. "Will you help me move this rock?" Rue called over her shoulder, raising her voice so she might be heard over the tumbling water.
