All Welcome
@Bronwen @Valour and anyone else who wants a thread (perhaps naturalist trade?)

Phex was tried. These pups had been working her and poor Laroche was run off his feet. They were getting along well though, even with a slightly difficult birth.
The pair had grown noisier and stronger every day at such unprecedented speeds Phex didn't know where the time went. Each day felt like a year but each week felt like a minute. They'd been trying to stand recently, their eyes open now. She watched them with adoration within the den. Soon, she'd take them outside soon.

Her tail wavered softly as she reached forward and nudged Valour, her tongue licking over his fur. She wondered what their future held.

Life was good for the little Valour. He had his momma and papa and his favorite person in his tiny world so far, Bronwen. Yet he thirsted for more. His small undeveloped brain had begun to notice that papa and momma weren't always around, he realised they went somewhere but the question was where? He wanted to know the answer, he wanted to go where they did so badly.

Today the desire was stronger than ever and he was nearly vibrating with energy as he felt his mother lick his fur "nanana!" he protested and wriggled, his little legs coming up underneath him. He stood for all of two seconds before realising something was up. Startled he plopped his butt down and quite suddenly his eyes popped open in time for him to blink and turn to look at his mother in a very questioning way. It would probably seem strange that he wasn't affected by the sudden ability to see but Valour felt he had always known everything around him anyway. He tested the feeling of his paws underneath him against the hard floor of the den and stood, wobbling and swaying as he lifted a paw and took his first steps.

A grin of pride sparked across her face as her son stood, protesting against being groomed in his usual way.
She shifted, Bronwen still curled at her side, fast asleep from her escapee efforts -- for now at least.
"But you're covered in soil, Valour," She cooed, loved speaking to her children, even if there were incomprehensible half of the time. The cute sounds they made and the efforts they made to communicate verbally.

They were excelling. She planted that on Laroche with him bringing her the best the Keep had to offer in the ways of food and, at night, he always spent time with the children before falling asleep with her. Sometimes, when she awoke from being attacked by hungry mouths, he was sprawled out, half across her and half corraling the children, which they both seemed to love.

He could tell that she still wanted to groom him so he stood up and toddled away managing about three steps before flopping over gracefully. Unphased he felt a rumbling rise up his throat and he made a very squeaky impression of his father's growl "nanaNA" he retorted and rolled around until he had the momentum to stand up again. In the next few seconds he noticed the bright outside of the den and made a break for it, stumbling and falling a teasing few feet away and rolling a few times. "oooooh" he sat and stared outside, finally seeing trees and grass and other things. He gasped and looked at Phex eyes desperate "mamamama!" he shouted and stood, tail spinning wildly around his hindquarters.

She could only laugh at his protests, sitting herself up to give chase to her vagabond, much to Bronwens discomfort. Whilst she pulled her daughter in, Valour ran. Though, he didn't go too far -- still inside the den. That was good.
She moved up beside him, leaving Bronwen to her own momentary devices. "Stay," she murmured in her stern voice which usually worked. Stern but not strict, loving but not restricting. She wanted them to live their best life and they'd do that through their own decisions.

Should she let him adventure outside today? Only if Bronwen would go too. Phex turned and picked up her half-asleep child, bringing her to sit beside Valour. A little outside time wouldn't hurt, right?
Phex stepped over the oogling children, letting them decide if they wanted to come beside her. She sat just off to the side, making aerial checks for hawks like old Apple had warned her about.

"Stay"

She was lucky that he was above throwing a tantrum. Instead he glared tiny daggers with his newly opened and clearing eyes and huffed a heavy sigh. He watched as she grabbed Bronwen and picked her up, placing her beside him and then walking toward the den opening. He was confused and offended, she wanted him to stay but now she was torturing him with the outside world? He wouldn't have it. He nudged Bronwen and made a very urgent sound, beaming as she reluctantly got up and followed him toward their mother.

"ooooh" he gasped once he stood outside the mouth of the den, eyes wide and full of shock. The world....it was so much bigger than he had ever expected. The trees were humongous, the sky was bright and beautiful. His tail went straight up over his back as decided that he ran this beautiful place and he sniffed around, finding a beetle and licking it up only to hack and spit it back out.

Her eyes watched as her two left the den, Valour immediately filled with wonder. He'd certainly be one to go explore the world and roam it, just like her. His soft gasp made her smile, her tail brushing the floor. She was busy watching Bronwen gape at the world herself, walking a few more steps. Then she heard Valour's hacking and her attention immediately snapped to him, standing up ready to protect him.
Alas, it was just a beetle.

She sighed, chuckling softly and putting her head to his. "Beetle," she named the thing that he'd spat out, spasming in a gloop of saliva. Bronwen came over herself also looking at the beetle.

The thing had flown down almost down his throat and then bonked around. It was a seriously displeasing sensation and he lifted his paw to kill it before his momma came over to give it a name. The name made it seem less hostile and aggravating and he figured being inside a mouth probably was scary. "Beeoo" he repeated as best he could and looked up at her with a fascinated expression, lowering his paw and toddling to a plant with pretty flowers "wha?" he asked her, seeking her seemingly endless knowledge.

She giggled, nodding. It was always best to encourage. Most of the time, at least.
"Yes, Valour. Beetle." She didn't realize how much she liked teaching. Especially her pups. They gave her so much joy and she had never once felt den-sick from being kept inside. Laroche took some of the time watching them too. Damn, she loved him.

She turned her attention to the flower which bore bright yellow petals and small leaves. She'd seen them grown in a cave where it was warm and there was sun from cracks above. She guessed the conditions of the thick canopy caused the same effect. "It's an Evening Primrose." She smiled softly, bending to sniff the flowers, they smelt like bees but not so sweet as honey. She wondered what Valours attention would be taken to next.
