All Welcome
dated to pre puppy birth

sooner or later, dawn would have their children. he felt a little uneasy straying even a territory or two away from the creek during this time, but they had to eat, after all. there was a glade off to the east that he'd never visited but had glimpsed from a distance; it bordered easthollow, which was all too familiar.

he still was reluctant to go near anything even remotely connected to morningside. easthollow's connection was far from remote. but as he entered the shade of the trees, the fox-scent pungently assailing his nostrils, he did wonder how they fared. he wished them all the best, even if that goodwill had to come from afar, on his part.

aditya sighed and began to follow a rabbit trail, hoping it would lead him to the proverbial pot of gold—right now, a warren would suffice.

Fox's glade was like a super-market for wolves, who preferred terrestrial food to the sea-/water-food of the Witch's marsh and moorlands. Nunataq had had her fill of the latter by week two and on the early morning of week three she was craving for a change in her diet, therefore she chose a forest near the Bearclaw valley, which she had frequented with Arlette, when on their way for yet another adventure.

Foxes did not bother the mute girl - she found them amusing at best, but paid no mind the rest of the time, though she had learned that occasionally it paid off to follow their trails. If a fox had managed to find food, then a wolf had just a good chance. Therefore, when the handsome, attractive daddy-to-be (narrator's observations and views, Nunataq did not care) found the rabbit warren he had been looking for, there was a certain masked wolf already there.

Having not yet noticed the competition for the grand prize, the girl was digging diligently at one end of the tunnel, from where the faint smell of rabbit was wafting deliciously.

said handsome daddy-to-be suddenly noticed the young woman digging, feeling more happy to stumble upon a new face than wary of hunting competition. he knew, however, that this viewpoint put him in the minority—and he really did need to bring some bacon home for dawn. adi gave her a soft chuff, padding silently closer, his eyes trained on her determined expression.

any luck? he whispered, ears swiveling in gentle inquiry. there was always the chance (probably a good chance) that she would not be happy with his presence; he was okay with buggering off and finding another warren. the day was still fairly young, after all.

The earth was soft and dry, making it easy for digging and at the same time sending dust everywhere. Most caked her face in a reddish-brown hue. Some ended up in her nostrils, when she had put her muzzle inside the unearthed tunnel to have a proper sniff. Which meant that the stranger's presence was acknowledged with a loud "Achoooo!". Followed by five more. Normally the mute girl would have growled and defended her positions, but being defensive and suffering from a severe sneezing spell did not go quite hand in hand, did it?

Finally able to look the guy in the eyes, she greeted him with a curious, perfunctory glance, an indifferent wag of tail and... another loud sneeze. Then she returned to her work.

sneezes tended to be contagious; even as aditya tried to formulate a response, he felt his nose twitch and burn. ach-hooo! he echoed seconds later, shaking his head to clear the sensation. whoof, he muttered, sniffling and blinking away the dust that had wandered his way. the girl hadn't given him a verbal response, but her body language said enough. she was on a mission.

well, so was he. he began to sniff around with her, not getting too close, but clearly looking for prey. he wasn't about to give up the hunt so easily.

a small shuffling sound within caught his ear, and he pressed his muzzle close, auds cupped forward. aditya's brow furrowed; there must be something about to emerge. sure enough, a fleet-footed rabbit burst from the earth, dashing away. without a second thought, aditya took off after it—unsure of whether or not he'd be able to catch the thing but more than willing to try.

I am retiring Nunataq for a while, therefore I will archive this. Thank you!

Life was unfair. The look on Nunataq's face spoke volumes, as she watched, how the older wolf took after the rabbit, which had happened to spring right in his jaws. Had the guy not been larger and older than her, she would have attempted to chase as well, but since the odds were not in her favour from the very beginning, she simply gave up.

Nunataq left and soon found something different to entertain herself with.
