All Welcome
It was to be war, and it was to be a wedding.

As the captain of Akashingo’s guard, you could guess what she was focused on instead. War was coming to their borders, war of stomping feet and marchers in the hundreds. When her eyes found the distant mountains, she imagined eyes, focused and watchful, upon their little Mesa.

Nephele was a veteran of one war already. She was preparing.

So, she spent her time jogging, sparring with fellows, gathering herself for such a time as she went to war once again. This time as General, pulled once again from nothing into a figurehead. Nephele breathed out, breath fogging out of her nose as the early morning chill burned through her slowly thickening coat. She tightened her jaw and ignored it.

Her body ached from training, but she was going to come out of this as unscathed as she could. She would. She would.

She wondered how many times she’d need to say that before she believed it.
